Maybe it's the module itself and not the software, and maybe if I'm lucky that will be covered by my 3rd party warranty.**INTERNET OFFER ** - 2 YEARS COMPLIMENTARY WARRANTY UPGRADE & 12 MONTHS FREE AA COVER INCLUDED ON THIS CAR, FOR SELECTED TIME ONLY.

If I continue having connectivity issues with Bluetooth, I may just suck it up and take it to the dealer to complain. I'm a little surprised/disappointed that Audi didn't issue any updates to the 2G MMI system in North America after 2008/2009, but I haven't found any info on any NA updates since then (please correct me if I'm wrong). The SW version dates on all of the individual components in the "engineering" menu are between 2005(!) and 2008. On the MMI update, it still looks like the latest version for North America is 4.6.10, which appears to be as old as my car (2008/2009). I'd probably be willing to pay $50-$75 for a truly genuine disc if someone knows where I can get one, otherwise I'll buy the most legit-looking copy I can find on eBay. I'm not opposed to buying a copy of a genuine disc, especially because my local dealers want to charge anywhere from $220 - $300 for a genuine one, but hopefully I can get some assurance that it is a good quality (and unmodified) copy of the original disc. I've looked around for the latest (2015-2016) disc online and have found it on eBay for as low as about $15, but these are all obviously copied/burned discs. So, looks like I was right about it never being updated but fortunately I don't have to worry about the eject lock. I checked whether or not I could eject the nav DVD and out came the original 2008-2009 maps disc.

If everything (aside from the maps) is already up to date, I may just have the dealer try to sort the Bluetooth issue.ĭoes anyone know if there is a more recent version for NA than 4.6.10 or anything about updating or troubleshooting Bluetooth? I've found some info on updating just the Bluetooth component, but will have to check the version I have already to see again if there is any point.

If this is correct, then there is no point in attempting to update the MMI, however the reason I wanted to update is that I am actually having some issues with Bluetooth connectivity (dropping connection to my phone and sometimes not playing the call audio through my speakers even though it appears to be connected and mic still works). On the MMI update, it looks like I'm running version 4.6.10, which appears to be the most recent version for North America. How do I remove the eject lock if it's still in place? Based on how out-of-date the maps are in my area, I'm guessing the DVD has never been replaced. (Why no NA updates Audi?!)Īny help with this would be greatly appreciated!Ĭlick to expand. Thanks, Dan. Answer: There are no updates the MMI 2G in North America since 2009, but there are newer versions for Europe. On the MMI 2G, I would not have needed to unlock the "hidden green menu" (but I did anyway using Carista).ģ) What improvements can I expect to the MMI system, assuming it has not been updated since 2009? Answer: MMI first, but in my case I was already on the latest 2G MMI version for North America, 4.6.10.

I bought a "backup copy" of the 2016 NA maps disc on eBay for $15, and it worked great.Ģ) What is the correct or best procedure for applying the updates? (Maps or MMI first? Need to unlock hidden green menu?) Answer: and wikipedia have good info on determining MMI version, which in turn determines which map updates are needed. So, can someone give me a quick run-down of the best practices for doing these updates yourself? Some of my specific questions are:ġ) How do I figure out the specific version of the MMI and map update discs I need, and where do I get them? I don't want to go to the dealer because I've heard they charge a couple hundred bucks for basically inserting a couple of DVD's and waiting for the update to complete, and the information I've found so far searching this site has been a little confusing with all the different MMI systems and model-specific versions. I'm pretty sure neither the MMI or the maps have ever been updated.

I'm tired of having to use Google on my phone instead. I've had my 2009 S5 for 6 months now and the out-of-date maps are really getting to me.
